Clinical Psychology-Interventions
Second cycle degree. Course
Description
Prof. Francesco Rovetto
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COURSE,
PREREQUISITES, OBJECTIVES
Students who enter this course
should have already passed the examination of clinical psychology. Thus they
should be able to identify and distinguish a psychological disorder (good
knowledge of the DSM-IV-TR and the principles of differential diagnosis).
Starting from this knowledge we face the problem of what to do to help the
patient. The course is therefore a bridge between the theory learned in
previous years and the professional practice, for that reason the focus will be
on the discussion of clinical cases and on the methodology of clinical intervention.
The course in Clinical
Psychology-Interventions is aimed at deepening the practice of clinical
psychology in the areas that do not require a qualification in psychotherapy.
The areas that we will deal with are those concerning aspects of
rehabilitation, prevention, psycho-education and clinical psychology regarding both individual and group treatments.
The suggested approach is to learn evidence
supported techniques and strategies of intervention.
The aim of the course is to enable the student to project simple programs for
psychological intervention. The student who has passed the course should find
it easier to successfully face the
second and third tests of the State examination.
